OSCE - KEY RECOMMENDATIONS 2015
Last year the Chamber of Commerce commissioned the OECD to update the “2001
Territorial Review of Bergamo” which was a point of reference for local policies. The
new recommendations were presented a few weeks ago; an abstract is reported below.
Bergamo needs to improve workers’ skills
01. Ensure that skills training combines general and specific skills.
02. Promote synergies in the provision of training across firms.
03. Make information on training accessible for employers and residents.
04. Promote incentives for training in general skills.
Unlock innovation potential
05. Better connect Bergamo’s leading firms to its SMEs.
06. Encourage innovative networks of SMEs.
07. Better connect Bergamo’s innovation agenda to the EU Smart Specialisation
Strategy.
08. Leverage successful private initiatives to promote a culture of innovation and
entrepreneurship.
Attracting foreign direct investment
09. Co-ordinate efforts with regional actors to attract FDI.
10. Improve internal and international accessibility.
11. Exploit synergies between tourism and business promotion.
Boosting the competiveness of SMEs
12. Further promote internationalisation.
13. Enhance technical assistance and financing.
14. Facilitate the diffusion of information.
From diagnosis to action
15. Create a structured platform for discussion among local actors, including
representatives of the private sector, the public sector and civil society, to
develop a common development strategy.
16. Create working groups to support the platform in devising and implementing
specific aspects of the regional development strategy.
